NGO GoaCan rightly called out the dangers posed by vehicles carrying cycles in inappropriate and illegal manner. Many cars also increase the tyre width to more than the specification of the car.
The tyres then protrude outside the mud guard which is again illegal. There are many modified cars too. Many groups come to Goa in a motorcycle rally of a particular brand and they do not obtain the North and South Goa Collector’s permission for the same.
Such rallies pose dangers to the other users and pedestrians and must be accompanied by the police.
An Independence Day bike rally with pilots not wearing helmets was also witnessed and it was reported that the rally did not have the Collector’s permission.
Administration in Goa is careless and non-existent. Solutions are given only when they can be solved by new purchases -- maintenance and monitoring are left as is. This is because of political interference in all areas not under their jurisdiction.
