When it comes to tourism, Goa is a hot favourite, both for Indian as well as overseas tourists, there is no doubt about that. Yes, Goa has immense potential to position itself as the world's best travel destination. And so, we find hordes of people pitching their tents in Goa. And the airlines taking advantage and hiking their fares to astronomical heights, which is unethical.
Goa is home to several heritage structures including religious buildings and are a beautiful sight for tourists. These heritage structures need to be preserved, maintained and protected both physically and from encroachments. While the hospitality industry expands with grand buildings, the authorities should ensure that the local small time entrepreneurs are not wiped out in the competition. The environment needs to be protected or else Nature could prove hostile. And, Goans themselves ought not to abandon their homeland in search of greener pastures overseas.
