Journalists should be fearless and articulate in their reporting and should refrain from being mere sycophants. Fair and just analysis of news along with tough criticism, which should also be constructive in content should be the cornerstone on which journalists should base their reporting. As we are nearing a general election, the media should be unbiased and protect the fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution. In the run up to the elections, freedom of the press should be used both as a weapon to curb corruption, cronyism and sycophancy as well as to show that the pen is mightier than the sword.
