At the Gogol crossing, I was dismayed to find that underground high-tension electrical cable termination work was being undertaken by the contractor without any safety gear, such as gloves or industrial shoes for the workers.
In spite of many fatalities occurring due to such dangerous practices, people refuse to learn any lessons. Such negligent contractors should be penalised and blacklisted by the Goa Electricity Department forthwith. They have to realise that there is a value to human life.
