Defecting MLAs should be made to resign and seek re-elections

Two senior Goan priests have reportedly come out hard against potential defectors and have rightly advised Goans to "gherao and hold dharnas" against all newly elected MLAs in front of their houses if they defect to other political parties soon after the election results are out on March 10 in Goa.

It has indeed become a trend of late for most of our politicians to get elected on a particular party and to mischievously defect or jump in some rival political party overnight for their own personal development by misusing the most controversial anti-defection law under the pretext of doing some long-term positive development of their respective constituencies.

Well,  all such newly elected MLAs who wish to jump from one political party to another after the election results of 10th March should henceforth be forced to resign compulsorily and seek re-elections to legally check their real popularity after their sudden decisions in Goa.

The anti-defection law should also be amended in parliament at the very earliest because the voters of late are practically seen getting tired/losing faith in the whole election process after seeing the antics of their own elected politicians and it looks like they might even start boycotting all future elections in our country.
