Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to draw the attention of the concerned authorities to a serious traffic safety concern at the Late Florian Vaz Signal, Gogol, Margao.
Recently, while travelling along the Western Express Road at Gogol, I observed that the traffic signal at the Late Florian Vaz junction was completely non-functional. Traffic was moving without any regulation, relying solely on individual judgment. It appeared that since it was a Sunday, the signal was neither monitored nor made operational.
This negligence is alarming, as traffic signals play a crucial role in regulating movement and preventing accidents. Their failure, regardless of weekends or holidays, can easily result in serious or fatal mishaps. Traffic safety infrastructure should not be allowed to take a day off.
Adding to the concern is a similar situation at the nearby Bhosle Circle, further increasing risks for motorists and pedestrians.
I urge the authorities to take immediate corrective action and ensure these signals function round the clock. Timely preventive measures can save lives.
