Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza on Tuesday took charge as the chairman of Mormugao Planning and Development Authority (MPDA) in July 2022 . After assuming the office, D’Souza said that he will provide good governance, transparency and efficient administration. As an observer, I have only noticed poor governance, lack of transparency and a totally inefficient administration. Take Sancoale as an example, this village was in the news recently because of the Bhutani proposed 700 units mega housing project which threatens the forest/hills/trees but many are now shocked to find there are some others as well like for example, the Puravankara projects of approx 700-1,000 apartments! How has the MPDA chairman signed off on so many housing projects in a village which has massive issues on water, garbage, sewage ? Has any study on the carrying capacity of the Sancoale Village been done? It is better that people demand that Sancoale be withdrawn immediately from the MPDA ! And I request the MPDA Chairman Joshua D'Souza to please honour his promises that he made on taking up the post, instead of appearing to just be a "rubber stamp".
