It's really shocking that senior citizens are targeted by cyber fraudsters using WhatsApp. It is the elders only source of connecting to their near and dear ones and as result they fall prey to cyber fraudsters. Sometimes tech savvy people also fall prey to such scamsters. According to senior citizens as reported in media, the scamsters are hacking the senior citizens WhatsApp accounts and sending fraudulent money requests to their contacts and when they click on the message their account gets hacked hence the cyber officials should monitor the messages when complaint is filed without any delay so that more elderly citizens do not fall prey to such cyber scamsters. The cyber officials should release advertisements on what are the do's and don'ts while using WhatsApp by elderly citizens on print as well as TV channels and YouTube channels to advise the elders not to click on suspect messages as once the messages of request of money are sent the WhatsApp accounts are hacked. Many senior citizens depend on WhatsApp for faster communication and stay in touch with their children abroad which has created fear in the minds of the elderly.
