Goa Government transferred MMC Chief Officer Deepesh Priolkar at the instance of Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho. What stands out is not only the very fast action ( within a day of the Panchayat minister's complaint) but also an officer with no cases of corruption now being replaced with one with cases of corruption. Also there are countless cases of fraud by Panchayat secretaries and subsequent complaints with evidence by activists mostly on illegalities, corruption and fraud. But the Panchayat Minister seems to always look the other way. Why are such cases and dismissals/transfer not done in fast manner ? It’s obvious to me that corrupt officials and yes men are kept in their positions by ruling ministers to pursue their corrupt/selfish power agendas and non corrupt/competent officials are transferred. No wonder the panchayats generally today are highly corrupt under the current panchayat minister.
