The Government of Goa has established the Goa Staff Selection Commission for recruitment to clerical posts of the government. The exam is held by a Computer Based Test and this Commission, though initially proposed by Manohar Parrikar but established by Dr Pramod Sawant is a revolutionary step.
This will end all possibilities of political interference in recruitment and it is known that government jobs are given in Goa on political considerations. But the frequent amendments to the Goa Staff Selection Commission Act to enable the government departments to complete recruitment in already advertised posts is unhealthy. This possibly happens because the concerned Cabinet Minister is interested in filling these posts through his Department rather than the Goa SSC. But the Chief Minister must bring an end to this.
