Leaders from the ruling BJP party were seen unfurling the national flag at various places in the State on Independence Day, giving long speeches and promoting themselves in Goa. In the days leading up to this, they organised Tiranga bike rallies with their staunch supporters, urging Goans to hoist the national flag atop their houses on August 15 to show their patriotism. The reason they engaged in these activities and advised people to display the national flag was to keep everyone busy and distracted from their own failures in Goa.
I believe these publicity-seeking BJP leaders should first address important issues such as eradicating drugs, casinos, and prostitution, reducing noise pollution from Anjuna to Arambol, providing permanent decent jobs for Goan youth, and repairing the pothole-ridden roads. Only then should they involve Goans in activities to show their patriotism and advise them on how to celebrate Independence Day in the future.
