Goa now needs a coal minister

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should relieve the Panchayat/Transport Minister of his duties and give him a new portfolio that of coal.

The transport scene and the panchayats in the State are in total shambles, particularly with the high rates of accidents and mass transportation management including vehicles, buses, bus stations, transport information systems, cleanliness etc.

The present minister is more focussed, enthusiastic and aggressive about coal cargo where he calls increased coal capacity /handling as progress, while the rest of the world is progressing on non-fossil fuels.

I really don’t understand what "motivates" him so much on coal versus basic decent governance in his current ministries -- Panchayats and Transport.

This is typical of select Goan politicians who have successfully nurtured vote banks/illegal settlements  who will vote for them in significant blocks as long as they get their share of "goodies/incentives''.

In effect these politicians can do and say what they want... no matter how corrupt, destructive or incompetent they are, the said vote banks will give them the numbers to constantly vote to power!
