The case of a girl getting raped in a bus in Panaji is a shocker and brings into question the role of the police in maintaining women’s safety.
This comes despite cases such as Nirbhaya rape case. It is shame that the State’s capital is not safe for women. Given Goa’s image as a tourist destination, businesses in the State will be affected due to such an estate.
The government should henceforth concentrate more on law and order problems. I feel that if police does their work work with sincerity and ethically without a hint of corruption I don’t think there will be any criminal who will dare to attempt heinous crimes such as rapes.
The blame for such incidents lies completely on law and order agencies. Hopefully, the situation will improve soon.
