Goans should boycott p'yat polls in future

Our politicians from different political parties are always seen posing for pictures with all the newly elected winning panch members after every panchayat election results in the state and claiming them to be their close supporters. The Sarpanchas and deputy sarpanchas in all 186 village panchayats were reportedly elected the other day and as usual the politicians were seen doing the same drama once again i.e. posing with these newly elected Sarpanchas, deputy sarpanchas & their panch members. Hey, if these politicians cannot allow our village panchayats to function independently, cannot stop interfering in its day to day affairs without making the newly elected panch members to dance to their tune then what is the point of holding such panchayat elections in Goa? I think that Goans should henceforth boycott all future panchayat elections and ask the politicians from their own constituencies to directly take over and to  run their respective village panchayats with their close supporters rather than waste time taking part in such a useless exercise.

The sarpanchas and deputy sarpanchas in all 186 village panchayats were elected on Monday. What comes as a pleasant surprise is that in several of the village panchayats women have become either sarpanchas or deputy sarpanchas or both. In addition, many women have been elected as panchas.
