Finally, after multiple protests and social media campaigns, the government reacted and suspended TCP chief Rajesh Naik. However, the damage had already been done, with almost 23 lakh square meters of land converted. The action came late, and now it will be more relevant if the replacement doesn't repeat the mistake. The cities in our state are reaching a saturation point, which many urban cities in our country have already reached. Issues like noise pollution, air pollution, garbage, sewage, overcrowding in transportation, traffic, and crime are rampant. We face global warming on one hand and corruption on the other, leading to increased casualties from flooding, landslides, heat waves, bridge collapses, train accidents, road accidents, and hoarding collapses. Instead of learning from these issues, the elected officials seem more concerned with satisfying their greed, which has become an addiction. It's time for Goans to wake up and participate in the governance of our region. We need to attend gram sabhas, oppose illegal constructions, deforestation, and any projects that don't benefit the State. It's time to show the elected officials that we've allowed them to hold power.
