Goans should rise to protect heritage


Activists and residents including priests began a satyagraha over the controversial bungalow in the heritage precincts at Old Goa.

What one thought would be a one-day fast is expected to continue until the illegal structure is demolished. 

On the flip side, there will be preparation to accommodate the MLAs and ministers on front seats during the feast mass of St Xavier as if they are the apostles of our Goemcho Saib

What a shame for the faithfuls. On one side we Goemkars of all religion are shamelessly living with day light foolery from the powers and on the other it is like rubbing salt on the wounds of those who care. One wonders if the authorities are blind or blind-folded for political gains. 

It is indeed sad and something that most Catholics will not be able to digest. It is high time to wake up and protect our heritage.

Illegal occupation of govt quarters unfortunate

Some government quarters in states allotted by government agencies are given out on rent by the original tenants. It's illegal to rent out government allotted accommodation granted to the government employees. The authorities should check all government accommodations in states to ensure that flats have not been rented out.
