The Narendra Modi led BJP government at the centre, keeping an eye on the upcoming Karnataka assembly polls (including the fast approaching 2024 Lok Sabha elections which sends 24 MPs from Karnataka in Parliament compared to Goa's 2 MPs) has now reportedly approved Karnataka's revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) to divert Mhadei water for the Kalasa-Bhandura project, ignoring Goa's interests. If our ruling politicians are really serious on putting pressure on the central government over Mhadei and many other issues, then why are they not heading an all-party delegation to New Delhi immediately or sitting on a hunger strike outside Parliament?
In fact, our ruling BJP government at the Centre too is currently seen forcibly going ahead with some of the most destructive projects like railway double tracking, Tamnar power line, construction of four lane roads/huge bridges etc in the state. Goans need to come together on one single platform at the very earliest over many such vital issues (including Mhadei issue) and fight to uphold/defend our rights without relying on the assurances of our elected politicians.
