Goa, with its resources, is capable of growing a lot of its own fruits, vegetables, etc., and the excuse is not always Goans shying away from agriculture. It’s common knowledge today that the Goa government is destroying agriculture for (A) quite a few vanity projects ” for example, bridges destroying fields at Tolleband, Benaulim, and also creating infrastructure to suit the coal, mining, and real estate lobby! Then (B), there are large cases of the TCP minister bypassing the Regional Plan and converting large areas of agricultural land to settlements.
In a world now foreseeing food shortages, and many countries taking steps to mitigate the threat, it’s certainly disappointing and unacceptable to see a the state government moving in the opposite direction.
