It was by God’s grace that the teachers and students were saved from a huge disaster due to a technical snag that occurred in the brakes of the Bal-Rath bus. However, the presence of mind shown by the driver while descending the steep slope, and bringing the bus to a grinding halt by colliding it with a nearby tree, was extraordinary. Nonetheless, locals cautioned that negotiating these steep slopes in hilly regions requires trained drivers who are well-equipped to drive on such terrain. Furthermore, 16 teachers and students sustained minor injuries. Unfortunately, this incident once again highlights the shoddy maintenance that has been ongoing with these buses. Jeopardizing innocent lives can be prevented by maintaining strict preventive measures.
