Govt must stop harassing & blaming media

The media plays an important role in society. It helps spread information, shapes public opinion, and holds those in power accountable. Reporters work hard in all weather conditions, travelling long distances on two-wheelers and four-wheelers to bring us accurate news about what is happening around us.

They often get angry, deny the reports”even when they are clearly recorded”and blame the media for spreading “wrong” information.

Many politicians change their statements under pressure, yet blame the media for highlighting the contradictions. The media is a powerful tool in a democracy, but some uneducated and arrogant politicians try to silence it. In some cases, corrupt officials and politicians have even tried to trap journalists by filing false cases against them. We thank all journalists”reporters, camerapersons and others”who continue to do their work bravely and sincerely, often risking their lives out of love for Goa.
