The Goa government markets Goa as a tourist destination, says it’s committed to growing the tourism industry and on the other hand with coal hub/corridors, massive land conversions of forests/trees/natural cover/fields/hills to settlements/real estate, encouragement of so many housing projects (including mega ones ) etc is worsening the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Goa. Is the Goa government particularly Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira, TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane, Revenue Minister Babush Monserrate thinking that tourism will improve with worsening AQI in Goa? Goans must realize that that there is a clear and present danger to our AQI and we can’t leave it to the short sighted, self centered and corrupt politicians who seem to be least concerned. Accumulating money for themselves, their family and political party seems to be their only priority. There are few activists fighting hard, selflessly against the destructive ruling establishment and we need to join in and strongly support them.
