Happiness Index: Indians can’t live in fool’s paradise

The UN report says Finland is the happiest country and the top 10 happy countries include Denmark, Switzerland and New Zealand.

From the149 strong nations surveyed, USA is listed as 20, China 85 and guess where India is listed? It is at 140!

No doubt our government will pooh pooh this report as biased etc, but it is drawn up based on many criteria like GDP, citizens and life expectancy, freedom, corruption in government and business, medicare and malnutrition etc.

I am certainly not happy with the polarization of our country, restrictions being put on what people may eat, wear speak out freely and as an adult change religion, whom someone goes out with or marry, imposition of some nationalistic culture restricting  privacy and freedom to choose and watch what people want.

The farmers agitation, CAA and other impositions despite massive democratic dissent is being steamrolled! We must have a concrete GDH (gross domestic happiness) index to be a successful nation rather than a vague GDP!

We need to acknowledge our problems, accept facts or live in a fool’s paradise! Our great nation will be respected in the world only if we can improve the happiness index for all our people first before trying to become a world power.
