Addressing a session of G7 in Hiroshima Prime Minister Narendra Modi said "The United Nations (UN) and Security Council will remain just 'talk shops' if they do not reflect the realities of present world". He wondered why the UN was unable to stop wars when that was the prime reason why the UN was set up. The UN has outlived its utility . Millions of dollars are literally squandered every year in confabulations. It has become a 'centre for organised tourism" for the delegates of the innumerable bodies within the UN. Enough is enough. These jamborees must end. If the UN cannot stop wars, it should fold up and reinvent itself. The new body should be fully democratic without any country enjoying a veto power. Military intervention may be resorted to after a two-thirds majority of the General Assembly of nations.
