The Russia-Ukraine conflict may be underway in another part of the world but its impact is starting to be felt in India and even in Goa. It is learnt that the ongoing war has disrupted India’s edible oil market which gets 90 per cent of its sunflower oil from Russia and Ukraine. Since the supplies have been held up, the price of the edible oil has been hiked. The ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict also has reportedly had an impact on the Goa dairy sector due to escalating costs of raw materials for producing cattle feed. According to the officials the import of key ingredients used in manufacturing cattle feed have been hit due to the ongoing war, hence Indian suppliers who import these items have hiked the rates. The escalating costs of raw materials for producing cattle feed could lead to an increase in the price of milk. The increase in diesel price can have a direct impact on the price of essential commodities. This coupled with the hike in price of LPG and sunflower oil can have a negative impact on the budget of the average household.
