Important to deal with illegal hoardings

HC tightens noose around illegal highway hoardings - The Goan Everyday - June 22, 2024. The Bombay High Court sanctioning the authorities to bring down illegal hoardings, and even allowing criminal proceedings if the owners fail to remove them, is commendable”a step in the right direction. Yes, they should be treated as criminals because when these hoardings collapse, they claim lives.

Moreover, the authorities concerned should also be liable for prosecution because it is their responsibility to ensure that the agencies follow all the rules and regulations. However, we should consider another aspect. Hoardings, banners, posters, stickers, etc., defacing the cities are indeed a dirty, disgusting sight. You’ll find them anywhere and everywhere. Why not ban all of them? This would also help in avoiding generating more trash and garbage to clear.

This is to bring to your kind notice that the road from Dr Ambedkar Circle, Curchorem to Bandsai, and the stretch of road from Kakumoddi to Taki on the Curchorem-Quepem-Margao road, which was dug up for laying underground cables, was hurriedly tarred without following the proper process.
