In order to keep crimes against women in check, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has reportedly urged the state government to introduce pink buses since molestation is common while travelling in the public transport system. It is pertinent to note that Goa Tourism had launched its women’s taxi service, making this one of the few states in India to have taxis driven by women and for women passengers. Goa Tourism took this step to cater to women tourists, especially those travelling alone as also female residents in Goa. The Goa government has launched a special 'Pink Police Force' in order to help tourists, women and children in need. “Pink Express” is a special bus service taking women from Lucknow to Delhi. In Goa it is observed that even though in the buses some front seats are reserved for women, it is more often than not occupied by the male commuters. Hence introduction of pink buses in the state will be a big step forward towards women safety. This will not only prevent ladies from being groped by unscrupulous individuals but it can also prevent misunderstandings.
