The ongoing investigations indicate that corruption remains a significant concern within the Public Works Department in Goa, particularly related to job recruitment and government contracts. The irregularities in tenders and contracts like, pandal scandal, hotmixing scam, promotional irregularities, job scam, addressing these issues effectively remains an ongoing challenge. These have been built on the foundation of corruption by the PWD. It is rotten to the core. If Lokayukta probes all the past works carried out by PWD in renovation, repairs of buildings, roads, etc, there may be plenty of cases that will come to light. Moreover the practice of granting service extensions to most of the officers in PWD are blocking promotions and hindering the growth of talent within the system. The department is getting clogged because of higher-ups being granted extensions. People say that the PWD maintains its place at the top of the charts in the graft blacklist.
