Is destroying heritage trees Indian culture?

A positive thing I have witnessed with our Indian culture generally (India and abroad) is the huge respect (to the extent of worship / religious practices) of Nature, including trees. The irony is the current ruling BJP party which promotes itself publicly on the plank of nationalism, patriotism, Indian core culture/ideals, its religious focus etc is allowing the massive destruction’s of nation’s trees, particularly heritage trees (going back 100-300 years), under the false pretext of development.

All this, shows the huge hypocrisy of BJP’s stated values and to the fact that in actual reality, their political leadership is blinded by ties to the forces of various destructive/commercial lobbies including real estate and crony capitalists.  How can we in Goa tolerate this mindless destruction of our environment which can seriously affect us and our future generations?
