It is good news that the chairman of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao has been finally appointed. Both sides of the 'D Company,' Diggu and Damu were vying for the post. Given the state of affairs, it would be beneficial to have a third party take over. I must say that I am pleased with the outcome. Rajendra Talak is a man to contend with. Mostly known as a builder, It was his innovative idea to use art as a means to tackle the garbage issue. This idea of his drew flak from the then muncipality's 'babi' as it would impunge on their role. He (Talak) willingly conceded rather than embarass the municipality. It was the century old Gomant Vidya Niketan in Margao that hosted many tiatrs. Due to lack of parking space there today, events have shifted to the Ravindra Bhavan. Thanks to those businessmen who had the foresight to create this instituition. And also, the attached public library, Margao City today boasts of various millionaires. However, where philantrophy is lacking there is bound to be atrophy in the system.
