It’s time for Goans to get ready for struggles ahead

This is in response to the CEC recommendations with regards to the linear projects through our Western Ghats. The small step of recognizing the double tracking to be impermissible is the result of the struggle of common Goans, who are fighting against the destruction of Goa by the coal and steel lobbies, and is a major setback to our State Government which has been serving the corporate lobbies shamelessly. The recommendations do not recognize the transmission lines and highway expansion projects to be anti-people and fail to recommend these projects be stopped, which means that the people must renew their struggle.

The fact is that a large number of ordinary people, worked tirelessly to inform and empower the citizens, who rose in thousands to demonstrate and protest against the coal plans.

I hope that the people of Goa realize that only people’s power, undivided by religion, caste, class, language, electoral parties, etc, can save Goa from the coal lobby. The struggle has only started and everyone has to come out unitedly for the greater good  and survival of Goa and our future generations.
