During Shiv Jayanti celebrations at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj fort at Farmagudi in Ponda, politicians in power often speak of beautifying the premises of historic importance. However no favourable action comes to the forefront in this direction once the celebrations are over. My recent visit here revealed a rather negative picture. Some of the benches meant for public use have been noticed in a damaged condition. Dry leaves are seen scattered over the area. Even dustbins are not being cleared regularly. A metal box utilised for placing a focus light fixture has been lying in a damaged condition due to corrosion. Under such circumstances, the concerned authorities should assure prompt maintenance work at this place of historic importance so as to improve its image. Let us hope that needful positive steps would be undertaken in this direction without any delay.
