Now that the main accused, Pooja Naik, has openly spilled the beans to the media by accusing Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, IAS officer Nikhil Desai, and PWD Chief Engineer Uttam Parsekar of involvement in the Rs 17.68-crore mega jobs-for-cash scam, it is time for Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to crack the whip and suspend the government officials with immediate effect.
This will help enhance the BJP government’s image as a government committed to its much-touted policy of zero tolerance to corruption. Power Minister Dhavalikar should also gracefully step down from his post to save his reputation.
Secondly, there appears to be a lot of truth and belief in the statements made by Pooja Naik, as no one would dare hurl such accusations and allegations against government officials and a cabinet minister if there was no truth or credible evidence to substantiate the charges. A high-level inquiry commission is therefore a must for a case of such magnitude, to expose all those involved and the prevailing rot in the system.
