It must be said that the cash-for-jobs scandal is getting murkier by the day since more skeletons are tumbling from the closet. Two more persons, including a woman were reportedly arrested in the Usgao job scam. It is learnt that the Bicholim police have arrested a woman from Maharashtra for allegedly duping people to the tune of Rs 20 lakh on the pretext of giving them jobs in the Railways. The jobs-for-cash scandal appears to have become an inter-state racket. What comes as a surprise is that many of those allegedly involved in the scam are women. It is a malady which has been aggravated by the ever increasing number of unemployed youth. Obviously the alleged culprit has been successful in providing government jobs in the past. As a result the faith of job-seekers in such people has grown over the years. In the process these culprits have amassed wealth well beyond their known source of income. Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai has reportedly asked the government to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe these scams. The issue is turning out to be a can of worms.
