KPA leaders' blunder on Romi must be rectified

Romi Konkani supporters have been seen demanding equal official status for Konkani in the Roman script along with Devanagari Konkani in the Official Language Act after 36 years in Goa.  As they say that they were backstabbed by some leaders of the Konkani Porjecho Awaz (KPA) during the passing of the Official Language Act, 1987 after being used during the language agitation and later discarded after the mission of the above leaders was accomplished. Of course, the above leaders might deny this today but the fact will always remain because as per an old document found having their signatures on a letter-head of Sahitya Academy, these same former KPA leaders who were part of the Goa Language Advisory Board had indeed passed a resolution at their meeting held on November 21, 1981, exactly 6 years before the Konkani agitation that Devanagari would be the only official script of Konkani in Goa.  I therefore personally feel that as long as the above blunder of the above leaders is not rectified and Romi Konkani is not given equal official status along with Devanagari Konkani script in the Official Language Act by the State government, Konkani speaking Goans will forever remain divided.
