TMC chief Mamata Banerjee seems to be working full steam trying to form a united opposition front. According to recent news reports, she has spoken with her counterparts in Tamil Nadu and Telangana, to put up a united front against the BJP so as to try and protect the country’s federal structure from getting bull-dozed. She also says that the TMC have not contested the UP elections in the "larger interests of the nation" because they did not want the Samajwadi party to become weak. What magnanimity! She has made desperate attempts in Goa and elsewhere but has failed. It is apparent that the TMC has no base in UP, Goa and other states outside Bengal and so they have resorted to poaching members from other political parties. Is Mamata Banerjee even serious about putting up a united front and dislodging the ruling party? Then, she has to understand that they need to take all parties on board including the Congress. Or else, they are only fighting a losing battle.
