The Goa govt has done well in continuing the treatment of plasma therapy and ‘Remdesivir’ drug for Covid-19 patients even after the Indian Council of Medical Research announced the removal of plasma therapy from the national guidelines for Covid-19 treatment and the findings of WHO that ‘Remdesvir’ has little or no effect on Covid -19 patients.
There appears to be no reason whatsoever to discontinue the above therapies when patients have recovered remarkably well from the deadly Covid virus after these therapies.
Secondly, the WHO has proved to be of little use in containing the worldwide spread and deaths due to Covid. It was also late in declaring the pandemic -- a move which could have saved millions of lives.
Politicising the issue by blaming China for the origin of the virus and the late announcement of its spread and deaths will also not absolve the WHO of its responsibilities.
It is also a sad reflection of the limitations of medical science and the futility of our tall claims of the advances of science in combating viruses of the Covid -19 type.
Probably, the need of the hour is the God-given wisdom of Solomon to discern which medical treatment and therapy is best suited for a way out of the pandemic impasse.
