Former ZP member and a two-decade-old BJP heavyweight core worker Deepak Kalangutkar joined the Goa Forward Party on Sunday. Frustrated with the present BJP internal politics, Kalangutkar announced his resignation from the BJP primary membership on October 21.

Kalangutkar alleged that BJP has lost its track from its basic principle of serving common people. He said that BJP top leaders from Goa are not giving good treatment to its core workers.

Kalangutkar has worked actively with BJP leaders like former CM Laxmikant Parsekar and Manohar Parrikar.

Meanwhile, Goa Forward President, Vijai Sardesai has said that many top leaders from the ruling party will follow Kalangutkar to join Goa Forward after Dussehra.

Kalangutkar was frustrated with BJP inducting MLAs from other political parties. Kalangutkar had earlier resigned as director of the Goa State SC and OBC Finance Development Corporation with immediate effect.

"The present state of affairs within the BJP in Goa, especially in Pernem, is that loyal party workers are sidelined and humiliated," Kalangutkar said.

In Mandrem constituency where Kalangutkar is active, BJP inducted rebel Congress MLA Dayanand Sopte who once defeated BJP's former CM Laxmikant Parsekar in the 2017 state assembly elections. This induction of Sopte into BJP has not gone down well with the core party workers.
