The number of active cases has for the first-time dropped under 100-mark since it crossed on September 1, even as the overall total surged to over 628 infections in Canacona taluka.
According to Health Officer Dr Vandana Desai, four more Covid cases were reported taking the overall total to 628 in the taluka. The active cases reduced to 93, the first time below 100 since the active cases crossed the century mark on September 1, following the initial detection of Covid infection in Canacona in the first week of June 2020.
The recovery from Covid infections is 525.
So far 10 Covid infected patients mostly with co-morbidities have succumbed from Canacona taluka.
According to Health sources, the recovery from Covid is much appreciable, and if no major fresh infections strike the people of Canacona, the health authorities expect the figure of active cases to dwindle further with good recoveries at a single digit within a fortnight.
