I would like to congratulate our local MLA Kedar Naik for raising the garbage issue in the just concluded assembly session and for rightly questioning his own government on behalf of all the Saligaokars over its recent decision of transporting additional 30 more tonnes (from the current 20 tonnes) of Sonsodo waste piled up in the old treatment plant to the Saligao garbage treatment plant on a daily basis. Of course, though the concerned minister (including the CM) has verbally assured him in the house saying that this would be a temporary measure, it looks like this government is hell-bent on casually bringing more garbage from all over Goa at this particular garbage treatment plant at Saligao under some pretext or the other. I therefore strongly feel that the government should stop testing the patience of the Saligao locals and instead should set up mini garbage treatment plants in all villages on top priority to treat their respective wet waste and permanently sort out this serious garbage problem.
