I believe it sets a positive precedent for the High Court to include the Calangute MLA party in the case concerning the illegal felling of trees in Siolim, following the application from environmental activists. Hopefully, more MLAs will be implicated, considering the widely recognized association between such environmental degradation and politicians or ministers.
That being said, it appears that MLAs have been granted unwavering freedom and immunity to engage in environmental destruction and tree cutting as they see fit.
In this case the government needs to hold the Calangute MLA accountable for this blatant illegality.
