When Mopa airport was proposed it became a controversy among the people. Now with Mopa ready to fly comes another controversy in naming it. Anyway more percentage of naming likely came in favour of the first Goan Opposition leader Dr Jack Sequeira, citing the reason that because of Dr Sequeira today Goa's identity has remained the same, otherwise if merged, the State would have been half Maharashtrian. And today's ministers who have been building bridges in the air for Goa would have been in their profession like doctors, advocates, contractors, hoteliers and trawler owners, etc, if they had to think and remain grateful there would have been no controversy in naming as they are enjoying the fruit of Goa's garden. It may be recalled that our good friend and Calangute MLA Michael Lobo in the past was very vociferous in demanding that Dr Sequeira's statue should be erected at Porvorim Assembly complex but today he has gone silent and become a turncoat after joining the ruling dispensation.
