The many rape cases every day expose our male mindset. When such incidents occur, we witness reactions and responses from the victims, the accused, and human rights activists. However, we must recognise that they come from one of our families. We tend to blame the police and the government for the misdeeds of the accused, but we should also question our families. I am truly sorry to say that families and peers must bear some blame as they have failed to instill good moral values in children’s upbringing. This failure is the primary cause of the law and order problems in our society.
The rich and powerful often use their resources and connections to escape charges by exploiting the loopholes in our system, which is a cause for concern. Our country has strong laws, but we have failed to implement them properly. Unless we plug the loopholes in our system and impose severe punishments, such as the death penalty, on the perpetrators of heinous crimes, and ensure impartial police investigations even when their own staff is involved in such heinous crimes, which has not been happening to date, the situation will not improve. So, let’s act to curb this evil before it spirals out of control.
