We have heard of the horrendous accident involving 3 trains in Odisha wherein 288 lives were lost. On preliminary enquiry it was found that the Coromandel express changed tracks and rammed into a stationary goods train. Another train at a high speed in the opposite direction crashed head-on into the mangled pile of the previous 2 trains.
Reports say it was a horrible error of judgement on the part of the driver of Coromandel express that caused this ill-fated mishap.
A detail enquiry is awaited which will throw light on the cause of the accident.
In this era of bullet trains plying at supersonic speeds it's highly essential to scrap old, outdated signals and tracking systems with newer hybrid heavy-duty models.
