Theft cases have been reportedly increasing in Goa. According to media reports, there high profile theft cases, almost every day. In the past there were cases wherein thieves used to disguise themselves as policemen and rob chains of elderly, under the pretext of helping them.
Currently, the modus operandi has changed with thieves entering the jewellery showroom and engaging the sales person into a meaningful conversation and craftily getting away with the gold ornaments.
The recent case in which 2 persons entered in one of the jewellery showrooms in Vasco, and robbed a bangle worth lakh of rupees in a similar way is really threatening.
Customers should be kept at a distance and the concerned sales person should have alertness and presence of mind while dealing with them.
Moreover, there should be another person who should be vigilant about the happenings in the shop, especially when it's crowded.
CCTVs are effective, but thieves are well aware of it, and enter the showrooms by disguising themselves.
Eventually, times have changed, accordingly we also need to update ourselves, and be on high alert.
