A recent probe has revealed that the fire department issued no-objection certificates to clubs even though they had not applied for them. So, is that revelation surprising? It shouldn’t really be. There are so many things happening in the country, so getting an NOC and operating without applying or complying with all the requirements is not a big deal.
What about the slums and other commercial structures in Mumbai? They all get their electricity and water connections, etc., without complying with all the guidelines. So, when tragedy strikes, the officials responsible for permitting such things should also be brought to book.
