Recently, the parents of Mormugao constituency were in anxiety and fear as the school board decided to hike fees. The local school in Vasco, managed by MPA, suddenly raised the fees for students, resulting in confusion in the minds of parents. The school informed parents in its academic year to pay revised fees from January 24. However, the same information was not conveyed to both parents and the directorate of education.
The school management seems to have instructed parents to shift their ward if the revised fees are not paid. The issue was raised by local MLA Sankalp Amonkar in the ongoing assembly session. He also mentioned the memorandum received from parents whose wards are studying in the school. Additionally, the management is likely to discontinue the primary section, according to the information received. The school receives government aid, so it is time to take proper action and ensure the grants allocated to the school are utilized appropriately. Goa has many government-aided schools that receive funding from education funds. It’s time for the education department to intervene and resolve the issue of fee hikes.
