It is good that we have Doordarshan in our State where we can take forward our mother tongue Konkani.
The channel is however, not up to the mark compared to other channels and still continues to telecast boring programmes. The talk shows, on various issues are of one hour, but it looks as if it goes on for hours together.
The Panaji Doordarshan channel should go in for a complete revamp “ not only on programmes and issues, but also on technology.
The idea for it is to capture the Goan audience by telecasting Konkani programmes, songs, dramas. It should also telecast plays in Hindi and Marathi.
Ideally, it should cover the ground scene in the State and update Goans on the happenings around.
For this to happen, the staff should know the Goan culture, traditions, festivals etc.
If non-Goans who don’t know anything about the State are employed, I don’t think Doordarshan will have any future in Goa.
It is imperative that the Goa government takes note of this and corresponds to the Central authority so that necessary changes can be incorporated and the channel can be brought back to life.
