The Goa assembly has been discussing the issue of Goa miles or taxi aggregators versus local taxis (yellow & black or Tourist Taxis) . There seems to be taking of sides by the politicians except by the Transport Minister and Chief Minister. The focus should have been on the customer service and the choice of how the customer will benefit by paying the competitive price for the service he/she receives. Forcing the customer to avail taxis only from the hotels they stay in is not correct. They could be a group of customers who would prefer travelling in a mini bus... how can the local taxis stop this? This is nothing but daylight robbery of the tourists. Why are the taxis opponents not stopping renting the bikes and cars. These have eaten into their business or unless the taxis drivers own these rent-the-bikes or cars just like the fishermen tussle between the ramponkars and the trawler owners who own both. The government should come clean on this app and for the benefit of the local taxi people the government should create a pension system for them similar to the seafearers. That would be an amicable solution for all.
