Police and administrative reforms urgently needed

I have been noting for the last 30 years residing in Goa the modus operandi of government officials looking after their own interests! In the present case night patrolling cops extorting money from a couple at Dona Paula are suspended. It is reported that the PSI entrusted with the task of inquiry was suspended in a previous extortion case at Sinquerim and the department has reinstated him a month after suspension even as the departmental inquiry is underway. I have written many times about even high officials being caught red handed being transferred to some remote location and quietly brought back as some departmental head just before retirement to go out in style with pension and perks! The people are helpless, so are the courts, having to go by government agencies reports and corruption continues! We need a government that cares for people without fear or favour, listens to and puts humanity and citizens’ convenience first, and not misuses powers to make them run around for routine matters. There is great need for long pending police and administrative reforms in public interest!
