India is a democratic republic with multi-party political system. Everyone who participates in the democratic process, directly or indirectly, may have allegiance with some political parties. Being a member of political party cannot be a qualification or even an influential factor for anything to be allowed. When people are swayed by position and power, or money, it means that they lack character and integrity. Political representatives manipulate the legal system through threats and political intimidation. Even political interference in transfers and posting of public servants results in politicization of public office, which in turn puts public efficiency and good administration to peril. The good people are purposely played down and attacked by the society that wants to dominate with bad or worthless people. Governance has degenerated. The recent allegations on cash-for-job scams and regarding govt posts, many say, are virtually auctioned. All these have let down the people, their hopes and aspirations. Their belief in the government and clean administration lies shattered. Though political interference violates the rulebook, the practice is rampant.
